Renewing Your Credentials

Annual Registration

CMDs have access to renew their annual credential beginning on October 1:

  • Organizations submitting payment on behalf of their employees must submit payment before December 1st. Renewal can be verified through "Credential Verification".
  • Payments received after December 31st, 11:59 EST will be subject to a late fee in addition to the renewal fee.
  • CMDs who do not renew before January 31st of each year of the 5-year cycle risk losing the CMD credential.

To pay your credential fee online:

  1. Log on to your account at https://mdcb.learningbuilder.com/
  2. Click on the My Learning Plan button under the My Cycle tab at the top of the page.
  3. Select the (orange) Pay Fees button.

IF your learning plan DOES end in the current year and has been completed OR you passed the exam in the current year you may need to activate a new learning plan:

  1. Click on the Learning Plans button under the My Cycle tab at the top of the page.
  2. Click on the View or Begin button for the learning plan at the top of the Learning Plans list.  The plan is locked from adding activities until the start of your new cycle, but you can view it to pay your credential renewal.
  3. Select the (orange) Pay Fees button.

You will receive an email confirmation of your payment. The e-mail will also be accessible on your list of communications.

Learning Plans submitted for review will require up to three business days for approval. Once your learning plan is approved and credential renewal fees have been submitted, a new five-year certificate will be mailed to you in late January.

As a recognized member of the health-care field providing critical care to individuals facing life-threatening illnesses, it is the sole responsibility of each CMD to adhere to the MDCB Ethical Standards, renew his/her credential annually, including maintaining the appropriate number of continuing education credits each cycle in the MDCB CE Center and make necessary updates to personal contact information.

Beginning on October 1st annually, the MDCB distributes email reminders twice monthly to CMDs to the email on file. Although we distribute regular email reminders as a professional courtesy, we cannot be assured that they are received and if they are received that they are opened. In addition, a reminder postcard is sent to the mailing address on file.
